Stevie Wonder-3-819x1024In 1970 Stevie Wonder left MoTown and recorded two solo albums by himself. Berry Gordy was stunned to discover that this was the case with Stevie Wonder. Berry Gordy accepted Stevie Wonder's request to have more freedom, complete creative control and the rights to his songs. Stevie Wonder signed a contract worth 13 million dollars with MoTown Records in 1972. This entitled Stevie Wonder to a higher royalty rate , as well as more creative control as well as the right to his own songs which few artists had gotten in that period. The contract allowed Wonder's songs to discuss controversial topics like war, poverty, drugs and politics.Stevie is well-known for writing and performing political songs such as, You Haven't Done Nothing, which took a political stab at Richard Nixon. His album from 1972, Music Of My Mind was the first to be released under his brand new MoTown deal. Talking Book, Stevie Wonder's 1972 album, is a significant moment in the history of rock music. The album included Superstition The number one chart-topping song of the year.
